About Us
Crowder Industries is the non-for-profit sheltered workshop of Newton County. Established in 1969, our mission is to provide meaningful work to the disabled members of our community. Crowder Industries has successfully met our mission for almost 50 years. Over our history, we have employed hundreds of disabled individuals. Some of our disabled employees have worked at Crowder Industries since the very beginning.

The Crowder Industries workforce is integrated with non-disabled and disabled. Our employees work side by side which enriches the work activity for both groups. This integration allows Crowder Industries to perform a more complex level of work. Many of our disabled employees are able to produce at the same rate as non-disabled employees. The integration of our work force is a key to our success.

Our community is another key to our success. Being a not-for-profit, we are actually owned by the community we serve. Over the years we have established long-term relationships with community businesses.

Now and in the past, our Board of Directors is made up of County and City leaders, local business owners, and employees of corporations located in our community.​ In 2013 voters of Newton County approved a property tax levy to provide funding for Crowder Industries.​ Crowder Industries shall always evolve to provide support for our local businesses.

Currently, Crowder Industries provides labor for assemblies, produces cardboard boxes and paperboard products, and provides packaging and parts kitting per customer requirements. We are continually looking new opportunities to provide work for our disabled employees.
Our Workshop
Our workshop helps our employees develop themselves as workers with the goal to help them excel as far as their desire and ability can take them until they are retirement age.

Our continued mission is to provide employment opportunities for our community members impacted by disabilities. Our workshop has effectively provided employment and development opportunities for almost fifty years.

The Workshop is not a government agency. While we receive some state and county funding, we rely upon revenue to come from our business customers. The more business we attain, the more effective we are at providing meaningful work to our employees and insuring long-term employment opportunities.
Our Employees
Our employees provide labor and products for over twenty businesses in a seventy mile radius of Newton County. They are paid a commensurate wage on a scale in proportion to what workers in competitive employment would earn for similar work. In some areas, to ensure safety and welfare of employees, we provide more supervision/assistance per employee than businesses in competitive employment.

By employing some non-disabled employees, our disabled employees benefit. Our non-disabled employees have chosen to work in the workshop. They are supportive of their disabled co-workers. They work side-by-side helping each other as needed.

Our Products & Services
Assembly
Crowder Industries assembles customer furnished parts. Customers supply a variety of components and Crowder supplies the labor to assemble the components. We support customer’s KanBan systems delivering replenished containers multiple times each day for our customer’s production cells. Crowder Industries produces in small flexible work cells. Also, some assemblies are built for our customers to ship out to other locations within their production network.​
Packaging/Kitting
Crowder Industries provides packaging services to our customer’s specifications. Normally our customer supplies the parts and the packaging material and Crowder Industries boxes and palletizes the finished product. For some products, Crowder Industries bags several small components to be packaged with the customer’s products. Weight verifications are used as needed to ensure accuracy.
Cardboard Boxes
Crowder Industries produces custom cardboard boxes for a variety of customers. We can make boxes ranging from 4”X 4” up to 70” depending on the width and height. Also, we can produce cardboard die cut inserts to protect the product inside the box. We are most competitive in the medium range order quantities that large suppliers don’t want be burdened with.
Die-Cut Paperboard
Crowder Industries produces die cut panelboard used in furniture production. Customers supply their part drawings and specifications. Crowder Industries purchases the raw material and die boards per the requirement. Part sizes range from 1” x 1” to 60” x 60” in any shape required.
Welded Assemblies
Crowder Industries produces welded assemblies. Customers supply a variety of components and Crowder supplies the labor, welder, and material to weld the components in an assembly.
Warehousing
Crowder Industries offers short and long term warehousing. Our pricing is competitive and the warehouse is accessible from 6:30am to 10:30pm during the week. Weekend access is supported on an “as needed” basis.
Deliveries
Crowder Industries provides delivery support to customers within a reasonable radius of Neosho. Costs are dependent upon the customer’s delivery location.
